31 - Least Tern Courtship
|
North America's smallest tern, the Least Tern, is protected throughout its range. In early spring, they choose mates through mating rituals where the female sits on the beach and the male catches a minnow, feeds it to the female and goes out for another one. This process can go on for hours and likely days before the birds actually mate.
