Projects

Over the past few years I have been working on several long term projects. I have found that I do my best work while working long term with a single subject or idea rather than shooting for stock or other short term, less guided projects. This pattern started in 2004 when I first started planning Everglades Imagery and has continued through the present.

Canopy in the Clouds:

Education toward Whole Ecosystem Conservation

My latest endeavor takes me to the tropical montane cloud forests of Monteverde, Costa Rica, where I will be working with tropical plant ecologist Greg Goldsmith and videographer Colin Witherill to create an educational supplement for elementary students. This supplement will seek to educate students on the natural history of cloud forest canopies and promote ecosystem level conservation. Field work will begin in August 2008.

Of Emus and Fairy-wrens:

Photographing Australia's Endemic Birds

From July 2006 through July 2007, I will traversed the Australian continenet in search of birds that are not found outside the Australian continent. For 12 months, I lived out of a car as I pursued these birds across 40,000 miles of a truly beautiful country. Please visit this site for complete galleries, a weblog, and extensive details about my year.

Everglades Imagery:

Intimate Detail of a Vast Landscape

Beginning in January of 2005, I spent six months living and photographing in Everglades National Park. This site chronicled my time there and showcases the photographs I made during my residency. Sign up for updates and the future release of my Everglades book and exhibitions.
